Poem 4
The White Knight
It was high tide
When I fled from the castle
Seeking a place to hide.
I held in distress
The tatters and shreds
Of my white and blue dress.
What have I done? Who am I
Almost doffed of my colors
Only to please, to satisfy
The lust of a selfish king?
Help me, I wailed
For it is just by a string
My colors are still mine!
And then I heard a voice…
“My Lady, what is thine is thine!”
Who art thou, sound in the night?
“I am a friend. Follow my voice
For I am the White Knight!”
But how Sir, please tell me
Can thou guide me in my shame?
“I will, dear Lady. After all
See – our colors are the same…”
